It's hard to find an adult (even a really young one) who has not been invited to join Mr. Rogers Neighborhood at some point in their childhood. The genial Fred Rogers began broadcasting his children's show on US public television in the late 60s, with his last episode recorded in 2001. Over 31 seasons, Mr. Rogers became a paragon of treating children with and teaching them empathy and mutual respect. So when I came across a TikTok creator who prompted ChatGPT to utilize Mr. Rogers formula for effective communications to rewrite her marketing emails, I was very intrigued. I did not, however, expect the results to be so next level. Of course, I had to try it myself using my preferred platform Claude.ai. Here's my prompt: Use Mr. Rogers 9 rules of talking to children to craft marketing/sales content on the value of working with a business growth coach to increase profitability and expedite success. Here's what I got back: Are you feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of growing your business? That's perfectly normal. Many successful business owners have felt exactly the way you do right now.
Just like learning any new skill, building a thriving business takes time, patience, and often, a guiding hand. You might wonder, "Can't I figure this out on my own?" Of course you can. You're capable of great things – you've already proven that by building your business.
But consider this: every Olympic athlete, despite their incredible talent, works with a coach. Why? Because a coach brings perspective, experience, and proven strategies that can save you years of trial and error.
Every day, business owners like you, with the help of a coach, are discovering simpler ways to:
—Turn their confusion about growth into clear, actionable steps,
—Transform their time management struggles into efficient, productive days, and
—Convert their financial concerns into stable, predictable profits.
You've built something special with your business. You've put in the hard work, the long hours, and the dedication. Now it's time to take that foundation and build something even greater.
If you're ready to move from uncertainty to clarity, from planning to achieving, let's have a conversation. No pressure, no obligations – just an honest discussion about where you are, where you want to go, and how we might work together to get you there.
Honestly, I don't think I could have written better (and I've got a masters degree in writing)! But, what do you think? Does this Mr. Rogers-'ified' copy resonate with you? Do you feel any more compelled to explore business coaching as a valuable investment in your success? I'd love to know. And, if you use this hack in your own business, please share the results with me. Until next time, P.S. If you missed it, last week I shared Ways to Help those impacted by the LA wildfires. I help entrepreneurs leapfrog over the typical potholes that derail most small businesses with inspiration, motivation, education, and support across a wide range of business topics drawn from over a decade of running my own business, teaching entrepreneurship for the City of New York, and coaching and consulting privately with dozens of women and minority small business owners. Honestly, why go it alone when help is an email away?
Hi Reader, Something I've been enjoying of late are multiple influencers showcasing the limits of ChatGPT and the like. One guy asks it some pretty basic questions, such as to name a number between one and one hundred that includes the letter 'a.' (Spoiler alert: there aren't any). ChatGPT lies to his face over and over again. Another one provides examples of business fails due to AI. Some are pretty extraordinary. But here's the thing, this isn't just a harmless gimmick, it's a warning cry,...
Have you seen the video of McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski trying to promote the new Big Arch burger ahead of its March 3rd launch? How about any of the many, many videos or memes negging on it for a host of reasons, including how Kempczinski refers to the burger as "a delicious product" or his failure to take a real bite of it, seeming almost disgusted by it. To me, there are three great marketing stories going on here. 1. Going Viral Isn't the Goal Yes, there is such a thing as bad PR and...
This fall my mom was diagnosed with mild-to-moderate dementia. While sad, it did not come as a surprise. It's one reason I sold her house and we moved in together late last summer. At first, I planned outings to the Y and other senior programs, scheduled visits from family and friends, coordinated physical therapy appointments, and designed little daily activities to keep her engaged and stimulated. This winter it's gotten harder and harder to get mom out of bed let alone dressed and out the...
