Changing It Up!

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking pretty hard about what I want next year to look like for me.

I'm asking myself, "How will next year differ from this year or last year? More importantly, what is going to make it different for me and my business?"

You've probably heard the saying, "Old habits die hard." Man is that true.

But, for change to occur things have to change.

That means some old habits need to go so new ones can be cultivated and take root.

Over the past several years, I've made great strides in learning to ask for help. It was something I was terrible at when I started my business. At some point, though, I knew I needed to make that change.

So I took deliberate action to build that muscle.

Does that mean I don't get nervous putting my ask out there? Heck no!

I'm nervous right now because I'm about to ask for your help.

However, I've found it helpful to ask myself a series of questions when the fear gets in the way of the progress I want to make.

Here's what that looks like:

  1. What's the worst thing that can happen?
  2. How likely is that to happen?
  3. What will I do if that happens?

This way, I've got a little game plan if things don't go the way I hope.

In all honesty, though, the worst thing rarely does happen. What's more likely is that I'm both relieved and surprised by what does.

So what's my ask of you?

Well, one big thing on my 2022 list is to teach more, speak more, and get out in front of more entrepreneurs (particularly women and BIPOC founders) to spread the knowledge of how to approach and implement good pricing strategies and build real profitability.

And, I could really use your help with this.

If you or someone you know brings in speakers, holds panels, or runs a podcast for entrepreneurs, I'd love an introduction. Feel free to share my media sheet with them (Lauren Fleshler-Media Sheet.pdf)

And, thank you for hearing my ask and sharing it where appropriate. I appreciate it. And, more importantly, I truly appreciate you!

If you've been holding on to an ask, now's the time to release it. Once you do, I have a feeling you'll be relieved and probably surprised by what happens next.

Until next time,

Title: An Ounce of Prevention; subtitle: Can really save your bacon

Hi Reader, Last week we had the first tornado warning in Manhattan and the second in New York City that I can recall. There was horrible air quality from the Canadian wildfires as well as torrential rains with their accompanying flood warnings the week before. Right now, Spain and France are suffering devastating wildfires and heat waves. I've written before about disaster preparedness, but I really want to drive home the need to think about and plan for the potential impact of natural or...

Title: When AI Actually Works; Subtitle: It's a transformation tool

I promised I'd share some AI wins after bashing on it for the last couple of months, so here goes. An old client of mine runs a wine shop in Brooklyn. She's got some help but she's largely a one-woman show. She's been using Monday's AI features to help her analyze and manage her inventory and understand seasonal sales trends to purchase more smartly. She had to level up her investment and hire someone to help her set up the AI agents she needs but feels it's been money well-spent. Another one...

Title: When the Pope Speaks...; Subtitle: Are the right people listening?

There are lots of thoughts spinning around in my brain at any given moment. Maybe you can relate. We're kind of living in whirlwind times where information is coming at us incessantly; it's like being caught up in a tornado. There's just no way to catch your breath and really marinate on anything for too long. So here are a few things I'm trying to give a little bit more thought and attention to these days: What impact will Pope Leo's AI encyclical have on governments, tech leaders, and...
